Dark & Sticky Ginger Cake

Made the old-fashioned way with rich black treacle and plump, sweet dates, this is ginger cake as it should be — deeply dark, gloriously sticky, and full of warming spice. Cut into generous squares and dusted with a snow of icing sugar, each piece is dense, moist and utterly indulgent.

Perfect with a cup of tea, or gently warmed and served as a pudding. This is the kind of bake that fills the kitchen with the most wonderful smell and disappears far too quickly.
